Getting out of the lab for experimenting is great!
Getting out of the lab and setting off rocket cars is beyond awesome!
Your whole year cohort will have a fabulous time igniting their rocket cars and seeing their creation blast off into the distance! It’s an exciting and explosive combination that will ratchet up their love of science!
Our two week unit of work starts with students making their own rocket cars from the basic kit we provide. We teach them about all the science bits - forces, friction and air resistance which they then apply to their own individualised aero-dynamically crafted mega machines! Then they get to watch their creations explode into high velocity action! The average speed is 160km/h so you can imagine how much the kids love it. So far the high speed record is 199.6km/h – can your students build the 200km/h rocket car???
We possess a permit for explosives which allows us to purchase high power rocket motors. On race day we will precheck the vehicles for safety and organise controlled firing with accurate speed measurement as well as completing all OHSW documentation.
At the end of the day we will provide a full spreadsheet of car speeds and marks based on design criteria shared at the beginning of the project, enabling you to have a champion racing team.
We will even provide a trophy for your winners!
